At the request of the United Nations Population Fund, the Crown Princess is joining a newly-created international panel, the High Level Task Force for the ICPD (International Conference on Population and Development), which in the coming years will help to ensure the fight against maternal mortality, to promote women’s reproductive health and rights, and to increase women’s possibilities for influencing family planning.

The Crown Princess will participate when the international panel officially launches in New York on 1 October 2012. The panel is led by former Finnish president Tarja Halonen and former Mozambique president Joaquim Chissano, and it consists of 24 persons in all.
