Press Release: New commanding officer on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog

On 1 February 2019, captain Peter Schinkel Stamp takes over as the new commanding officer of the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.

The chief of the Royal Yacht Dannebrog is HM The Queen’s Captain of the Royal Yacht and the direct contact to the Navy and, in addition to that, advisor on maritime matters. The Captain of the Royal Yacht is responsible for the Royal Yacht, the training of its crew, and the fitting out and seaworthiness of the ship. In addition to that, the Captain of the Royal Yacht is responsible for ceremonial functions in connection with the Royal Yacht Dannebrog’s participation in official events.

In connection with the change in command, Peter Schinkel Stamp is promoted to the rank of navy captain.

Peter Schinkel Stamp comes from a posting as chief of the Center for Sergeant and Maritime Education at the Danish Naval School. Previously, the new Captain of the Royal Yacht has, among other things, served on Her Majesty The Queen’s Adjutant Staff and at the Royal Danish Defense College. He has also served as chief of the Training Division in the Navy’s Operative Command and as chief of staff of the 1st Squadron.

Peter Schinkel Stamp assumes the job of captain of the Royal Yacht Dannebrog from captain Christian Anders Nørgaard, who is retiring. Christian Anders Nørgaard, a Commander of the Royal Order of Dannebrog, has been Captain of the Royal Yacht in the Royal Danish House since 15 April 2013.
