At the invitation of Her Majesty The Queen, the President of the United States, His Excellency Donald J. Trump, and First Lady Melania Trump will come to Denmark for a state visit September 2-3, 2019.

The September visit will be the fourth time a sitting U.S. president has visited Denmark. The first took place when President Bill Clinton came for a state visit in 1997. Eight years later, in 2005, President George W. Bush visited and was received by Her Majesty. And, in 2009, The Queen received President Barack Obama, who was in Denmark to take part in the IOC summit and the COP 15 climate change summit in Copenhagen.

In 1991, The Queen and Prince Henrik went on a state visit to the United States, hosted by President George H.W. Bush.

The program and details for the state visit by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will be announced later.
