Yesterday, Princess Marie was awarded the Medal of Merit for good service in the national fire and rescue service in 2013. The presentation took place during a reception at the Danish Emergency Management Agency in Birkerød on the occasion of DEMA’s 75th anniversary.

The Medal of Merit was awarded on the following grounds:
“HRH Princess Marie in 2011 went through an introductory emergency skills education in the Danish Emergency Management Agency within the areas of first aid, fire fighting, rescue and staff work. After successfully completing the training, The Princess was appointed as an Honorary First Lieutenant (Civil Protection) in the Danish Emergency Management Agency.

Princess Marie has subsequently shown her great interest and engagement in the Danish Emergency Management Agency’s activities on many occasions. Here, The Princess’s participation has particularly contributed to the spread of interest in the Danish Emergency Management Agency’s many areas of work.

The presentation is based upon a creditable and meritorious effort to spread and promote familiarity with the fire and rescue service in Denmark.”
