The objective of the project is to create a platform that with international penetration illustrates and contributes to sustainable development in Greenland and globally. The Danish contribution to the exhibition is a project that focuses on the challenges and possible solutions Greenland is facing as ice melts, enormous raw material resources become accessible, and new industry and urban cultures arise. At the same time, the project will show how architectural skills can significantly contribute to creating sound development in Greenland.  

The Crown Prince and the Danish minister of cultural affairs Uffe Elbæk attend the official opening of the Danish pavilion. The Danish Architecture Centre has asked the internationally recognized geology professor from Copenhagen University, Minik Rosing, to be head curator of the project “POSSIBLE GREENLAND” in close co-operation with co-curator Nord Architects. The commissioner and the curators have together with five selected Danish-Greenlandic teams created connections between Greenland’s long history, special needs and future challenges. The individual teams develop subprojects, which in text, models, sketches, sound and pictures will be displayed for the public in Venice and supplemented by a series of events. 

The Architecture Exhibition is the largest platform within the fields of architecture, urban development and construction in the world. Here architects, opinion leaders, teachers and journalists meet within the field for professional inspiration and exchange. At the same time, the exhibition is very popular among the broader public and students.

The last exhibition had more than 170,000 visitors, of which 105,000 stopped by the Danish pavilion.
