HRH The Crown Princess visits Geneva on 6 November 2014 on the occasion of the UNECE/UNWOMEN conference “Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls for Sustainable Development in the ECE region”.

The visit in Geneva focuses on women’s and girls’ particular rights and challenges, including in crises and conflict situations. The Crown Princess will, among other things, give a speech at the opening of the conference “Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls for Sustainable Development in the ECE region”, which is arranged by the UN’s Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the UN women’s organization, UN Women. The conference is being held as a prelude to the marking of the 20th anniversary of the women’s conference in Beijing, Beijing+20, which takes place in New York in March 2015 in connection with the Commission on the Status of Women’s gathering.

The Crown Princess pays the visit in Geneva in her role as patron of the UN’s Population Fund, UNFPA, the Danish Refugee Council and the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for Europe and as a member of the High-Level Task Force for the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
