The Crown Prince Couple will be on hand for the naming of the new A.P. Møller-Mærsk container ship on Wednesday, 25 September at Langelinie, Copenhagen, where HRH The Crown Princess will preside over the naming ceremony.

At 10.00, The Crown Princess will be in charge of the official naming of the new container ship, which will be called Majestic Mærsk. After the naming ceremony, there will be a chance for those interested to go aboard the ship, which can house more than 18,000 20-foot containers.

The container ship, which is among the world’s largest of its type in the so-called Triple-E class, will sail between Europe and Asia in the future. On its route, the ship will call on 14 different ports, including the Port of Aarhus, where a large part of Denmark’s farm product exports are shipped out.

In all, 20 Triple-E ships will be produced. Despite their size, they emit less CO² in relation to the average route between Asia and Europe. More than 40,000 persons have bought tickets to see the ship, which is docked in the harbour by Langelinie until 29 September, after which it sails to Gothenburg.
