Programme for visit in Sydney

The Crown Prince Couple pay a visit in Sydney, Australia from 24 – 28 October as patrons of the 40th year jubilee of the Sydney Opera House. In connection with the celebration, the Crown Prince Couple will preside over the distribution of the Crown Prince Couple’s Awards 2013.

Government House is among the “Sydney Living Museums”, which is the designation for 12 of the most important museums and historical buildings in New South Wales.

Launching of the exchange programme “MADE by the Opera House” and opening of “Architecture makes the City” in the Opera House

The Crown Prince Couple participate in the launching of the interdisciplinary exchange programme “MADE by the Opera House” for Danish and Australian architecture, engineering and design students. At the launching, The Crown Prince Couple are introduced to, among others, the first five students from Australia who have been chosen to take part in the programme. HRH The Crown Prince will give a speech at the event, which takes place in the Playhouse Theatre in the Opera House.

In addition, the opening of the architecture and design symposium “Architecture makes the City” will be marked. During it, Danish and Australian architects will discuss architecture and design’s current role for cities and the collective, cultural consciousness.

Reading competition

The Crown Prince Couple observe “Premier´s Reading Challenge”, which is a reading competition for school children from primary school years 1-7 in the state of Tasmania. The objective of the competition is to encourage children to read books.

Opening of the exhibition “Danish Design at the House”

The Crown Prince Couple visit the exhibition “Danish Design at the House” in the Opera House’s foyer. Representatives from 25 Danish companies whose designs form part of the exhibition will be on hand. Afterwards, there will be a reception.

Visit at The Twin Registry

The Crown Prince Couple visit The Twin Registry at Sydney Children's Hospital, where they are introduced to the place’s current research and speak with twins from the registry. The Crown Princess is the patron of The Australian Twin Registry and The Danish Twin Registry.

Launching of eSmart Digital License

The Crown Princess is present at the launching eSmart Digital License at Margaret Martin Library in Sydney. eSmart was created by The Alannah and Madeline Foundation and has the goal of improving Internet security and guarding against online bullying of children and young people. The Crown Princess gives a speech at the launching in her role as patron of the foundation, which among other things starts initiatives directed towards anti-bullying in schools.

Gala concert in the Opera House

The Crown Prince Couple are present at a gala concert and celebration of the Opera House’s 40th jubilee with approximately 4000 guests and a number of performances by various artists. The Crown Princess will give a speech during the concert. Afterwards, there will be a reception for invited guests.

Presentation of the Danish Export Association’s Diploma & His Royal Highness Prince Henrik’s Medal of Honour
