H.R.H. Princess Benedikte, in her capacity as patron, presides over the presentation of scholarships from The I.P. Nielsen Foundation in memory of Queen Ingrid tomorrow, Friday, 13 July 2012, at Sønderborg Castle.

The I.P. Nielsen Foundation in memory of Queen Ingrid is a continuation of the earlier foundation, The I.P. Nielsen Homes for Southern Jutland Children, which aimed at giving Southern Jutland school children access to camp schools or holidays. In 1971, The I.P. Nielsen Homes for Southern Jutland Children succeeded Crown Princess Ingrid’s Vacation Home for Southern Jutland Children, created in 1939.

Today, the foundation provides support aimed at benefiting children and young people in Southern Jutland, including the educational development of Southern Jutland schoolchildren. The foundation provides, among other things, support for projects that emphasize experiences and learning, that support the Southern Jutland identity of children and young people, and that develop their social skills.

The foundation’s capital is made up of profits from the sale of The I.P. Nielsen Home in Sønderhav.  The foundation’s patron, Princess Benedikte, has handed out the scholarships every year since 2008. This year, the distribution of them takes place at the castle in Sønderborg on Friday, 13 July, at 15.00.
