HRH The Prince Consort visits the Navy’s Operative Logistical Support Centre on Friday, 22 February.

The Naval Defence’s Operative Logistical Support Centre Frederikshavn is part of the Navy and is in charge of service and maintenance of the Navy’s ships.

During the visit, The Prince Consort will inspect The Royal Yacht Dannebrog and the support ship Esbern Snare, which is based at Frederikshavn.

The Prince Consort will be received by the garrison commander, Commodore Per Frank Hansen.

At 14.15, there will be an inspection of The Royal Yacht, which traditionally is docked at the Frederikshavn naval yard during the winter months in connection with preparations for the upcoming sailing season. During the visit, The Prince Consort will see the spring preparations of The Royal Yacht, which at the moment is in the water at the naval station.

On Esbern Snare, The Prince Consort gets a tour that will conclude on the so-called “flex deck”, which among other things is used in connection with the detention of pirates. In 2010-2011, Esbern Snare took part in a NATO-led anti-piracy mission off the Horn of Africa and Somalia. The Prince Consort gets a briefing about anti-piracy operations by Esbern Snare’s chief, Commander Henrik Holck Rasmussen, and a tour of the support ship afterwards.

To conclude the visit, The Prince Consort will go from the flex deck directly on to the quay.
