In Finland, HRH The Crown Princess will lead a business and cultural promotional campaign together with a large Danish business delegation, focused on the maritime industry, urban solutions and Nordic cuisine.

The visit is being carried out as a part of the activities celebrating the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Denmark. At the same time, the visit has the objective of strengthening the commercial cooperation between the two Nordic countries.

The first part of the visit will take place in the capital, Helsinki, where there will be a focus on city development and cooperation between Danish and Finnish companies on green, innovative urban solutions. The second part of the visit takes place in the city Turku on the Finnish west coast, which is a stronghold for the maritime industry.

Arrival at city hall in Helsinki

HRH The Crown Princess visits Helsinki on Thursday, 13 September. The Crown Princess takes part in an official welcome at the city hall hosted by the City of Helsinki. Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness is received by Helsinki’s mayor, Jan Vapaavuori, among others.

Urban Solutions in the Nordic Area

HRH The Crown Princess participates in the conference “Urban Solutions in the Nordic Area”. Urbanization is a focus area in Finland because the country’s larger cities are growing rapidly. The objective of the conference is to share research and knowledge about possibilities in the areas of architecture, technology and building materials as well as solutions in energy efficiency and digitalization. Mayor Jan Vapaavuori and assistant mayor Anni Sinnemäki host the event.

Meeting with Danish companies

During the conference “Urban Solutions in the Nordic Area”, HRH The Crown Princess will take part in a networking event where Danish and Finnish companies have the opportunity to establish contacts. During the arrangement, Her Royal Highness meets Danish companies, among them Grundfos, ROCKWOOL and C.F. Møller Architects.

Luncheon at the parliament

HRH The Crown Princess participates in a luncheon at the parliament hosted by parliament speaker Paula Risikko. Representatives from the Finnish parliament and the chairpersons of the Environment Committee will also take part in the luncheon together with the Finnish-Danish parliamentary friendship group and the Committee for the Future.

Conference at Stora Enso Headquarters

HRH The Crown Princess takes part in a conference at the company Stora Enso, which is a supplier of sustainable solutions in the areas of packaging, biomaterials, wood and paper. The conference will focus on knowledge-sharing regarding building with wood and sustainable bio-economics. Her Royal Highness will be given a tour around the company and introduced to, among other things, the company’s products and the building’s architecture.

New Nordic Food

HRH The Crown Princess participates in the networking event New Nordic Food, where Danish food and beverages are exhibited for potential Finnish customers. Her Royal Highness will, among other things, meet with Danish companies specializing in New Nordic Cuisine and be present at a cooking show with the Finnish chef Tomi Björck.

Official dinner

HRH The Crown Princess takes part in an official dinner in Finlandia Hall. The official dinner celebrates the 100 years of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Finland. Both Danish and Finnish companies and organizations will participate together with representatives from the government, among others.

Arrival at the cruise ship Mein Schiff 2

HRH The Crown Princess visits Turku on Friday, 14 September. Together with the Danish companies, The Crown Princess will visit the Finnish cruise ship building company Meyer Turku. Her Royal Highness will take part in a tour of the shipyard with Meyer Turku Oy CEO Jan Meyer and afterwards see the cruise ship Mein Schiff 2.

Official welcome at Forum Marinum

HRH The Crown Princess participates in an official welcoming ceremony at Forum Marinum. Upon arrival, Her Royal Highness is received by Turku’s mayor, Minna Arve. Afterwards, Her Royal Highness will place an honorary plaque in front of Forum Marinum. Then The Crown Princess participates in a luncheon with Finnish foreign trade and development minister Anne-Mari Virolainen, Forum Marinum CEO Tapio Maijala and Turku Science Park Ltd. Visit at Swan of Finland Vessel

HRH The Crown Princess visits the museum ship Suomen Joutsen/Swan of Finland. The ship was built in 1902 and first had French and, later, German owners before the Finnish government acquired the ship in 1930. In Finland, the ship first served as a training ship for Finland’s Navy and later as a stationary seaman’s school for the Finnish merchant fleet. During the visit, The Crown Princess will be introduced to the ship’s history and take part in a tour.
