Program for visit to Morocco

The days of 3-4 October 2019, The Crown Princess takes part in the Youth Innovation Summit, an innovation and dialogue seminar in Rabat, Morocco.

The Crown Princess visits the Youth Innovation Summit, which is an innovation and dialogue seminar for 100 selected young talents from Morocco, the days of 3-4 October 2019. The seminar concludes on 4 October with a dialogue festival for citizens, students, Danish and Moroccan companies, NGOs and Moroccan public officials, and Her Royal Highness will be in charge of the opening of the festival. In connection with the visit, The Crown Princess will also have the opportunity to meet local partners, Danish businesses and civil society organizations.

It’s the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Danish-Arab Partnership Program, the UN’s Development Program and the Moroccan government that are holding the Youth Innovation Summit from 30 September - 4 October. The objective of the seminar is to place young people at the center of the development of new ideas and solutions to ensure increased youth employment and sustainable development as well as to promote social participation and the establishment of new platforms for cross-generational political dialogue in Morocco.

Tour of the Innovation Lab and meeting with the young talents

The Crown Princess is received and shown around the innovation and dialogue seminar at the National Center of Moulay Rachid Sports in Rabat. Here, Her Royal Highness will meet the talented young Moroccans to discuss the experiences they have had in connection with their participation in the seminar. The young talents will work within three themes: Climate Change & Renewable Energy, Urban Sustainability, and Agribusiness & Food Production.

The Crown Princess participates in a dinner with the young Moroccan talents and experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UN’s Development Program, the Confederation of Danish Industry and AFDB. The dinner will be prepared by young student chefs who have taken part in a course arranged by Meyers parallel with the innovation seminar.

Run at the festival site

The Crown Princess takes part in a run at the site of the dialogue festival together with 2,000-3,000 young people from schools and universities in Morocco. The run is arranged by Cross Culture (CCPA), which works with young people and sports under the Danish-Arab Partnership Program.

The Crown Princess is officially welcomed at the dialogue festival site by the Moroccan minister for youth and sports, Rachid Talbi Alami, the vice regional director for the Arab states with the UN’s Development Program, Sarah Poole, and moderator Samid Ghailan.

The Crown Princess officially opens the seminar’s concluding dialogue festival.  In connection with the opening, there will be speeches by, among others, Her Royal Highness and the Danish ambassador to Morocco. During the subsequent dialogue festival, the young Moroccan talents present their innovation projects to the public.

The Crown Princess will take part in a tour of the dialogue festival site. In connection with the tour, the delegation will have the opportunity to meet and talk with the talented young people as well as representatives from Danish companies as well as Moroccan and Danish civil society organizations.
