From 27 September 2018 until 19 May 2019, you can see a special exhibit at the Amalienborg Museum including HM The Queen’s costume designs and scenography. The Queen herself has helped to select the various creations from her artistic work, and they will be presented for the next half-year at Christian VIII’s Palace in the exhibition “The Fairy-Tale Queen”.

Figures from fairy tales such as Thumbelina, The Tinder Box and The Nutcracker as well as scenographic designs for productions at The Royal Theatre and The Pantomime Theatre will soon be displayed at the Amalienborg Museum in the exhibition “The Fairy-Tale Queen”. The exhibition consists of a number of costumes and scenographic designs The Queen has created through the years.

The common theme of the exhibition is the fairy-tale world, and in the exhibition visitors will, among other things, get an insight into several visual sources that have inspired The Queen through the years. In addition to that, Her Majesty’s work table and studio have been recreated, so people visiting the exhibition can get additional insight into The Queen’s artistic work.

It is The Queen herself who has put the exhibition together along with the Royal Danish House’s curator, Elisabeth von Buchwald, and designer Shane Brox. In 2016, they were also behind the exhibition “From the Danish Royal Family’s Lofts and Cellars”, in which porcelain, silver, art and furniture from the past 300 years was put on display.

“The Fairy-Tale Queen” can be seen from 27 September 2018 until 19 May 2019 at the Amalienborg Museum.
