HRH Princess Marie commences today as the new patron for the Danish Epilepsy Association and Kattegatcentret.

The Princess carries on with the patronages that previously were handled by HRH The Prince Consort. In 1972, The Prince Consort became the patron of the Danish Epilepsy Association, which looks after the interests of the 45,000-55,000 Danes affected by epilepsy and their relatives.

Likewise, Princess Marie begins as patron of Kattegatcentret – it’s a patronage also passed on from The Prince Consort, who started as patron when the centre opened in 1993. Princess Marie last visited Kattegatcentret in May 2013 and presided over the official opening of the centre’s new experience zone. As an information centre, Kattegatcentret helps set focus on knowledge about marine life and the relations humans have to the environment and marine environment, including a special focus on Kattegat.
