Accreditation for state visit from Vietnam

HM The Queen and HRH The Prince Consort paid a state visit to Vietnam in November 2009, and on 18 – 20 September there will be a reciprocal visit from Vietnam.

The President’s plane lands the morning of 18 September at the Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminal, Copenhagen International Airport, where The Queen and The Prince Consort and the Royal Family will greet His Excellency President Truong Tan Sang and First Lady Mai Thi Hanh. After the reception ceremony at the airport, there will be a welcoming ceremony at Fredensborg Palace with an escort by the Royal Hussar Guard Regiment. In the evening, The Queen and The Prince Consort will host a gala dinner at Fredensborg Palace.

The programme for the state visit reflects that Vietnam and Denmark have historically had a long and close cooperative relationship. In 2011, the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Denmark and Vietnam was celebrated when HRH The Crown Prince visited the country along with a Danish business delegation.

The state visit will focus on increasing trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, with special focus on climate, energy and green growth as well as education, culture and research.  A Vietnamese business delegation of approximately 40-45 companies will arrive in Denmark, and there will be a number of company visits pertaining to green technology and the display of technology, knowhow and production facilities.

During the visit, Copenhagen will be presented as Europe’s greenest capital, and the city’s comprehensive climate-friendly solutions will be displayed. On a sailing tour in Copenhagen’s harbour, the President and HRH The Crown Prince will see Middelgrunden’s Windmill Park and Lynetten to look at technology related to wastewater treatment.

The President and HRH The Crown Prince will participate in the conference for Danish and Vietnamese companies to be held at the Confederation of Danish Industry in partnership with the Danish Agriculture and Food Council and The Danish Shipowners’ Association. The conference ends with a Vietnamese food products festival.

During the visit, the President will have a discussion with the Prime Minister, followed by a press conference and a signing ceremony in the Prime Minister’s Office.

The First Lady, along with HRH The Crown Princess, will visit The Mary Foundation, where The Crown Princess will tell about the foundation’s efforts to focus on children’s well-being, and together they will visit the kindergarten ‘The Bumblebee’, which is supported by The Mary Foundation. In addition, the First Lady will participate in a number of cultural events.
