On 1 November, HRH Prince Joachim begins a new position as a special advisor in the Defence in relation to the implementation of the new total force concept, which will strengthen the future use of volunteers in the Home Guard and personnel from the reserve. 
 
The new total force concept means, among other things, that the integration between the reserve and the regular structure is strengthened so that more equal and transparent conditions are established in relation to, for example, education and use.
 
The work as a special advisor is adapted to Prince Joachim’s other duties. Prince Joachim will not receive a salary, as the Prince receives an annuity and therefore cannot receive compensation for government service. The primary workplace is Defence Command Denmark in Copenhagen.
