Program for visit to Poland

The Crown Prince Couple participate in the marking of the 100th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Poland. This takes place in Poland’s capital Warsaw at the invitation of HE Poland’s President, Andrzej Duda.

This autumn, it has been 100 years since Denmark and Poland resumed diplomatic relations. That occurred after Poland regained its independence in 1918 in connection with the end of the First World War. The 100th anniversary of the re-establishment is marked with a visit, which will focus on Danish-Polish cooperation in, among other things, defense, energy, business and culture as well as the two countries’ relationship during the past 100 years. The Crown Prince Couple last came to the Polish capital Warsaw in connection with a business promotional campaign in 2014, when Their Royal Highnesses visited the Presidential Palace and the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, among other things. 

The Crown Prince Couple are accompanied by minister for health Magnus Heunicke. Their Royal Highnesses are also accompanied by a Danish and Polish business delegation.

The President and First Lady host an official luncheon for the Crown Prince Couple with the participation of representatives from the Polish and Danish business and cultural sectors.

Wreath laying ceremony on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The Crown Prince Couple take part in a wreath laying ceremony on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is a memorial for soldiers who have lost their lives for Poland.

Opening of historical conference at University of Warsaw

The Crown Prince Couple participate in the opening of a historical conference about the Danish-Polish relationship through the past 100 years. Among other things, there will be a focus on the Cold War as well as Poland’s admission to NATO and EU membership.

Visit at veteran center Centrum Weterana

The Crown Prince Couple pay a visit at the Polish armed forces’ center for veterans, where there will be an opportunity to meet Danish and Polish veterans. During the visit, there will be a focus on defense matters between Denmark and Poland and their joint engagement in international operations.

The Crown Prince Couple take part in the reveiling of a new memorial plaque for the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The plaque is placed by the statue of the Polish astronomer Copernicus created by Bertel Thorvaldsen.

The concert is arranged by, among others, the Danish Cultural Institute and has the objective of illustrating the artistic synergies that exist between Denmark and Poland.
