Programme for HM The King’s visit in Greenland
His Majesty The King will visit Greenland starting Monday, 28 April 2025.

The visit commences at Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen, where His Majesty will receive the Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, on Monday afternoon. Afterwards, The King and Jens-Frederik Nielsen will travel together to Greenland.
The official programme in Greenland begins in the capital, Nuuk, and concludes later in the week in the northernmost part of the country with visits to Station Nord and the Sirus Dog Sled Patrol.

Monday, 28 April
Reception of the Prime Minister of Greenland at Amalienborg

His Majesty The King receives the Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, at Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg. During his visit to Denmark on 27 and 28 April 2025 The Prime Minister will also meet with the Prime Minister of Denmark and the Speaker of the Danish Parliament.
Official arrival in Nuuk, Greenland

The King and Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen arrive in the capital, Nuuk.
Tuesday, 29 April
Visit to the settlement Kapisillit

The day begins with a visit to the settlement Kapisillit, 75 km east of Nuuk. Kapisillit was established in the 1920s and is now one of the few remaining settlements in the region around the capital. The settlement has around 50 permanent residents, and many families have lived here for generations.
Kaffemik at Katuaq

After returning to Nuuk, The King participates in a traditional kaffemik (social event with coffee, cake, etc.) at the cultural centre Katuaq. The kaffemik is open to the public and will give The King an opportunity to meet citizens from Nuuk.
Winter experiences in Nuuk’s hinterland

In the afternoon, The King will explore the terrain behind Nuuk, which offers winter scenery with mountains and lakes. Along the way, The King will gain insight into the area’s nature, wildlife and history.
Dinner at Hans Egede House

In the evening, the Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, hosts a dinner at the Hans Egede House in Nuuk with members of the Government of Greenland.
Wednesday, 30 April
Visit to the University of Greenland, Ilisimatusarfik

His Majesty The King visits the University of Greenland, Ilisimatusarfik, where The Kind will meet students from the SILA programme. This educational programme aims to train future generations in the responsible management of biodiversity, in understanding climate change, and in the unique relationships between people and nature that characterise Greenland and the Arctic.
Visit at Station Nord
Station Nord is the northernmost military and scientific station in Greenland. The King will visit the station together with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Denmark, Troels Lund Poulsen.
The station was established in 1952 as a weather station, telecommunications station and emergency landing field. It was shut down in 1972 but was reestablished as a military station in 1975. The area includes several buildings and a runway, maintained year-round by five specialists from the Danish Defence.
The programme for the visit at Station Nord will be released by the Ministry of Defence.
From Thursday, 1 May, and onwards, The King will be touring with the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol.
