The steering group behind Royal Run has decided that Royal Run in May 2021 will be put off. Instead, the run will be held on 12 September in Sønderborg, Aalborg, Odense and Copenhagen/Frederiksberg. On Bornholm, the run will be held the same day, but without royal participation.

Last year’s edition of Royal Run was first delayed from June until September. But the run was completely cancelled later in the year as a consequence of the situation with COVID-19 throughout society.

In connection with the postponement, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince says:
“It has been decided to postpone Royal Run yet again until 12 September, when we hope that it will again be possible to gather so many people for a running fest. In the meantime, we must make sure to keep body and soul going. Especially just now in the dark period – it provides energy and physical well-being. So, I hope that many of you will use the time from now until 12 September on maintaining the enjoyment of exercise and running that Royal Run has already brought about.”

The Crown Prince got the idea for Royal Run several years ago in connection with his 50th birthday. Royal Run is not a classic run with the finishing time as the highest priority. It is possible to both run and walk all of the distances, and there are special miles for families which, for example, want to take the baby carriage out on the route. Royal Run is arranged by the organization “Bevæg dig for livet” (“Exercise for life”) in a collaboration between the Sports Confederation of Denmark, DGI and the Danish Athletics Federation.

All registrations will be transferred to the new date, but it will also be possible to choose to have money refunded. In the coming days, more information will follow via email to those have signed up.
