TM The King and The Queen participated in a celebratory church service at Aarhus Cathedral on 21 January 2024 in connection with the succession of the throne.

The service at Aarhus Cathedral was held in connection with the succession of the throne with representatives of official Denmark, representatives from the city of Aarhus and 400 other guests.

Before the church service, The King and The Queen and The Royal Family rode from Marselisborg Palace through the city of Aarhus, where many Danes had lined up along the route to wave and celebrate the new King and Queen.

Aarhus Cathedral is Denmark’s longest church. The construction of the cathedral was begun in the 1100s in Romanesque style. Between the years 1450-1520, the church was expanded into a Gothic cathedral.
