The guests were presented to The Queen and the Royal Family in the Velvet Room before they continued on into the Great Hall, where the gala dinner was held.
The Velvet Room is characterized by the many gold decorations and by the approximately 300-meter-long piece of Indian-woven, red velvet tapestry that hangs on the walls. Moreover, the Coat of Arms of Denmark with the three lions and nine hearts as well as Christian the 10th’s monogram are woven into the velvet tapestry.

The Great Hall is the largest of the Royal Representation Rooms. The hall is 40 meters long and 10 meters high, with an encircling gallery. On the ceiling are Kræsten Iversen’s three large paintings symbolizing the legislative, the executive and the judicial powers. The hall was originally decorated with Christian V’s Gobelin tapestries from Rosenborg Castle, but the sculptor Bjørn Nørgaard’s 17 Gobelin tapestries with motifs from 1,000 years of Danish history were mounted in the hall in connection with The Queen’s 60th birthday in 2000.
