Shoulder jewellery

The pieces of shoulder jewellery are a part of The Danish Royal Property Trust.

The two square brooches with diamonds, set in silver and gold, are so-called shoulder brooches, made to be used on the shoulders, but now worn freely, wherever it suits.

The two brooches, which were made around 1840, presumably for Queen Josefina of Sweden, may also be a part of Josefina’s inheritance from her sister, Empress Amélie of Brazil.

Queen Dowager Josefina let her granddaughter, Crown Princess Lovisa of Denmark, inherit them, and they were subsequently handed over to The Danish Royal Property Trust.
