The Pearl-Ruby Set is a part of the crown jewels.
Share
The Pearl-Ruby Set, decorated with pearls, rubies and diamonds, consists of a short pearl necklace as well as a brooch and earrings with dangling pearl ‘poires’.
The current form of the set dates from 1840, but the pearl necklace belongs among the oldest pieces of the crown jewels, as the largest of the necklace’s pearls can be traced back to the end of the 1600s. The set’s rubies were provided by Queen Caroline Amalie in 1840 together with the brilliant-cut diamonds.
