The Queen and The Prince Consort pay a state visit in Indonesia from 21-24 October 2015.

The state visit will focus on Danish positions of strength in the various areas of Danish business life, for example the maritime industry and lifestyle. The state visit will also strengthen cooperation between Denmark and Indonesia.

There will be an official reception of The Queen and The Prince Consort in Jakarta. Inspection of the guard of honour will take place during the welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace. The Queen and The Prince Consort will meet with Indonesia’s president, HE Joko Widodo, and participate in the President’s state banquet. In addition, The Queen and The Prince Consort will visit companies, museums, seminars and conferences and also attend the opening of a design and lifestyle trade fair. In connection with the state visit, The Queen and The Prince Consort hold a reciprocal arrangement in Jakarta. 

In Yogyakarta, HM The Queen will visit a batik exhibition and Gadja Mada University. In Surabaya, HRH The Prince Consort will pay visits at companies and visit Surabaya’s harbour. 
The visit takes place during the 70th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Denmark, which underscores the close Danish-Indonesian relationship. In addition, it will be the first official state visit by a Danish monarch to Indonesia.

Official welcome at the Presidential Palace

The Queen and The Prince Consort arrive at the Presidential Palace and are received by HE President Joko Widodo. The national anthems are played, and then the guard of honour is inspected. HM The Queen presents the Danish delegation to the president, who then presents the Indonesian delegation to The Queen and The Prince Consort. Afterwards, official photographs will be taken, and, following that, The Queen and The Prince Consort and the president participate in a meeting.

The Queen and The Prince Consort take part in an opening ceremony for the business delegation at Jakarta Harbour. The Queen will give the opening speech, and The Queen and Prince Consort then attend the signing of a strategic partnership agreement.

Visit at Wayang Museum

The Queen pays a visit at Wayang Museum and is welcomed by the museum’s director. During the visit, The Queen watches the shadow puppet theatre show ‘H.C. Andersen meets court poet Ronggawarsita’ by puppeteer Ki Purbo Asmoro. After the performance, The Queen will have an opportunity to talk with the museum director and the puppeteer.

The Queen, together with foreign minister Kristian Jensen, attends a charity and education event, where there will be a tour of the area and a presentation about the idea of public parks for the area’s residents. Afterwards, The Queen will be shown LEGO’s educational programme for the centre.

The Prince Consort pays a visit at a maritime industry seminar and gives the opening speech. Afterwards, The Prince Consort participates in a meeting with Danish companies in the maritime sector.

The Prince Consort pays a visit at an agricultural conference together with the energy, utilities and climate minister. During the visit, The Prince Consort will give the opening speech and attend the signing of three agreements.

The Queen visits the Design and lifestyle trade fair and presides over the opening of the fair by cutting a virtual red ribbon. During the visit, The Queen and The Prince Consort will, among other things, be shown the exhibition.

Laying of wreath at war memorial

The Queen and the energy, utility and climate minister pay a visit at the war memorial and take part in a solemn ceremony including the laying of a wreath. Afterwards, The Queen will sign the guestbook.

Visit at Grundfos

The Prince Consort pays a visit at Grundfos together with the foreign minister. During the visit, The Prince Consort will receive a presentation about Grundfos activities in Indonesia and the product Lifelink, which provides better access to water in developing countries. Afterwards, The Prince Consort will get a look at Lifelink and attend the official opening of Grundfos Lifelink in Indonesia.

The Queen and The Prince Consort visit the National Museum and, among other things, are shown the exhibition about the spice route and hear about the history of the subject.

Luncheon with Jakarta’s Governor

The Queen and The Prince Consort participate in a luncheon with Jakarta’s Governor at the National Museum. During the luncheon, the governor will give a short speech.

The Queen takes part in the opening of Gran Rubina, which is an energy-friendly office building complex. Gran Rubina is a Danida Business Partnerships Project and is designed by a Danish architecture firm. During the visit at the office complex, The Queen attends the signing of an agreement and inspects exhibitions by the firm in the building complex’s outdoor area.

The Prince Consort visits Lotte Shopping Avenue, where there will be a focus on healthy lifestyle. During the visit, The Prince Consort watches a badminton match and visits the area called ‘Bike to Work’, where there will be talk about the effort to get more cyclists in Jakarta. Afterwards, The Prince Consort visits a Novo Nordisk stand and is told about the project ‘Cities changing Diabetes’.

The Queen and The Prince Consort hold a reciprocal dinner in honour of the Indonesian hosts at Raffles Hotel. During the gala dinner, there will be entertainment in the form of different performances by Danish and Indonesian artists.

The Queen visits a batik exhibition at the Centre for Handwork and Batik and attends the signing of an agreement. Afterwards, The Queen will tour the exhibition and have a chance to talk with the artists who are present.

The Queen is welcomed by the rector, Professor Dwikorita Karnawati, and afterwards presides over the official opening of the seminar by striking a gong, and there will also be speeches by foreign minister Kristian Jensen and the Indonesian foreign minister. During the visit, The Queen will attend their signing of an agreement and, afterwards, greet students within the various fields of study.
