Program for the Crown Prince Couple’s visit to France

The days of 7-9 October 2019, Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and The Crown Princess will be on a visit to Paris to represent Denmark.

On the days of 7-9 October, the Crown Prince Couple will lead a business delegation consisting of approximately 50 Danish companies and business organizations that will take part in trade promotional campaign under the title “Denmark and France – together for a better life and a sustainable future”. In connection with the visit, Their Royal Highnesses will also participate in a number of visits to French companies and institutions.

The objective of the visit in the French capital is to strengthen relations between Denmark and France and support the growth and position of Danish companies in the French market. Energy, sustainable cities and health are the themes for the business promotional campaign, which will focus on elder care, “smart hospitals” and “life science” as well as wind energy, district heating and urban development. In addition, the visit will deal with Danish lifestyle and culture. 

France is the world’s sixth largest economy and an important trading partner for Denmark, as the country was the eighth largest export market for Danish goods and services in 2018.

Monday, 7 October

Opening of the business promotional campaign at La Grande Arche de la Défense
12:00

The Crown Prince Couple participate together with the Danish business delegation in the official opening of the business promotional campaign. The opening ceremony takes place at the monument La Grande Arche – The New Arc de Triomphe in the business district La Défense, and The Crown Prince gives a kick-off speech in connection with the opening. In addition to the Crown Prince Couple, foreign minister Jeppe Kofod, H.E. Denmark’s Ambassador to France Michael Starbæk Christensen, the Confederation of Danish Industry’s international relations director Thomas Bustrup and France’s foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian also take part.

Meet and greet with Danish companies

The Crown Prince Couple meet with the business delegation, which consists of representatives from approximately 50 Danish companies.

Visit at EDF Group
15:00

The Crown Prince visits France’s largest producer of electricity, EDF Group. Minister for Foreign Affairs Jeppe Kofod and H.E. Ambassador Michael Starbæk Christensen also take part in the visit.

Visit at Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompidou

The Crown Princess pays a visit to the Georges-Pompidou European Hospital. The hospital is one of Paris’s 39 public hospitals.

Visit at Dalkia Showroom

The Crown Prince, together with foreign minister Jeppe Kofod and H.E. Denmark’s Ambassador to France Michael Starbæk Christensen, visits a showroom of the company Dalkia in the business district La Défense. The French company is one of France’s main suppliers of district heating and is owned by the EDF Group.

Participation in architecture conference in connection with the 30th anniversary of La Grande Arche

The Crown Prince takes part in an architecture conference in connection with 30th anniversary of the monument La Grande Arche – The New Arc de Triomphe, which was designed by the Danish architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen. At the conference, representatives of the BIG - Bjarne Ingels Group, Henning Larsen and SLA participate, among others.

The Crown Prince Couple participate in a reception at La Grande Arche – The New Arc de Triomphe in connection with the 30th anniversary of the monument. DGI’s National Danish Performance Team appears, and, in this connection, The Crown Prince gives a speech to conclude the business promotional campaign’s first day.

Tuesday, 8 October

Attendance at meeting in the Assemblée Nationale

The Crown Prince visits the French parliament’s National Assembly and attends a meeting of the social affairs committee. In addition to His Royal Highness, health minister Magnus Heunicke, managing directors from Danish “life science” companies and the French head of committee for social affairs Ms. Brigitte Bourguignon take part. The meeting’s participants will discuss health policy topics in Denmark and France, and there will be welcoming comments by The Crown Prince in connection with the meeting.

Visit at nursing care home Korian Monceau

The Crown Princess pays a visit at the nursing care home Korian Monceau. The institution is a part of the Korian Group, which is the largest private sector provider of private nursing care services in Europe.

Visit on Ile Séguin
11:30

The Crown Prince visits Ile Séguin on the Seine in the municipality Boulogne-Billancourt outside of Paris.
Previously, a factory of the car manufacturer Renault was placed on the island, but today the space is being used for an urban development project. On the island, His Royal Highness visits the music hall La Seine Musicale, which was built with innovative energy solutions. Also taking part in the visit are H.E. Ambassador Michael Starbæk Christensen, Danish Parliament climate, energy and utilities committee chairperson Ida Auken, Haute-de-Seine region president Patrick Devedjian and Boulogne-Billancourt mayor Jean-Christophe Béguet.

The Crown Princess takes part in an investment seminar at Maison du Danemark, which is a cultural institution that has the goal of promoting international knowledge of Denmark. 

Participation in purchasing seminar at Frederikskirken

The Crown Prince takes part in purchasing seminar at the Danish church in Paris, Frederikskirken.

Luncheon at Restaurant Flora Danica
13:00

The Crown Princess takes part in a business luncheon at the Danish “Restaurant Flora Danica”. The restaurant is in Maison du Danemark on Avenue des Champs-Elysées.

Participation in wind energy seminar
13:35

The Crown Prince, together with climate, energy and utilities minister Dan Jørgensen, amongst others, visits a wind energy seminar at the office building Cœur Défense, which is placed in the business district La Défense. The seminar will promote Danish-French knowledge sharing about wind energy and will gather both French and Danish stakeholders.

The Crown Princess, together with health minister Magnus Heunicke, visits the private hospital Les Peupliers. The hospital is a part of the Ramsay Générale de Santé group, which includes private hospitals and specialty clinics in six European countries, including Denmark. 

Meeting with the French energy company Total

The Crown Prince participates in a meeting about sustainable energy solutions in the headquarters of the company Total in the business district La Défense. Total is the producer and supplier of several energy solutions including oil, natural gas and electricity.

Participation in the conference Development of Greater Paris

The Crown Prince participates in the urban development conference Development of Greater Paris in the business district La Défense. The focus of the conference is, among other things, infrastructure, urban development and energy in Paris and the surrounding area. 

Dinner at Hôtel de Ville
19:30

The Crown Prince Couple and TRH Prince Joachim and Princess Marie participate in a dinner at the Paris city hall Hôtel de Ville. H.E. Ambassador Michael Starbæk Christensen hosts the dinner, and, during the arrangement, there will be a speech by, amongst others, Paris deputy mayor Christophe Girard and entertainment by the DR Danish National Girls’ Choir. The menu for the dinner will be prepared and presented by the Danish Michelin chef Andreas Møller, who is head chef at restaurant Copenhague inside Maison du Danemark. 

Wednesday, 9 October

The Crown Prince pays a visit at the world’s largest campus for entrepreneurial companies, Station F, where tech companies are gathered to develop and realize prospective projects. The founder of Station F, Xavier Niel, hosts the visit.

School visit at Lycee Lamartine

The Crown Princess and Mrs. Brigitte Macron take part in a school visit at Lycee Lamartine, where students can attend Danish classes. The DR Danish National Girls’ Choir also participates in the visit.
