H.K.H. Prins Joachims tale ved indvielsen af Poul la Cour Wind Tunnel på DTU Risø Campus 10. april 2018

President Bjarklev, madam Mayor, honoured guests!

I personally find a drive through the Danish countryside inspiring. Out West the land is wind-swept through thousands of years and here in eastern Denmark the flowing land-scape and the tall forests tell the story of calmer weather.  Everywhere you turn you will see wind turbines – and at sea these are clustered in actual turbine-farms. The constructions are impressive by sheer size and it is an inspiration to know that they contribute substantially to Denmark’s energy supply.

Of course the turbines are built on decades of know-how, research and development in Danish companies and at Danish universities and particularly through the collaboration between those parties.

Standing in this room today you can truly admire the great dimensions of the turbines and you get an understanding of the facilities needed to take the development of the Danish wind sector even further.

I have looked forward to celebrating the official inauguration of the Poul la Cour Wind Tunnel. I also look forward to the planned tour inside and to get a feel of what testing windmill-parts in true conditions is like.

Congratulations to DTU, the Danish wind-industry and thus Danish society as a whole with these new facilities.
