Mr. President, Senora Juliana Awada, 

Let me express my sincere appreciation for the invitation to visit the Argentine Republic. I am delighted to be back for the first time since 1966. I have very fond memories of the warm reception and hospitality I met 53 years ago.

I have been looking very much forward to this particular visit. I will visit Argentina’s most important state institutions and take part in a forum promoting new investment and business opportunities between our countries. 

I will also have the opportunity to revisit Tandil and meet people who have made a special effort to keep their Danish heritage alive and maintain the close friendship between our two nations. A friendship which was sealed already back in 1841, when Denmark and Argentina signed the first bilateral diplomatic protocol. 

This time I am happy and proud to be accompanied by my son Crown Prince Frederik who has likewise visited your country previously. 

With this state visit, it is our desire to confirm our friendship and strengthen our commercial, political and cultural ties even further. 

Let me propose a toast to the President of Argentina and Senora Juliana Awada.
